Twenty-five students have been admitted at Kyambogo University to pursue a pioneer diploma in Biomedical Engineering.
The head of department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Augustine Rugyema, said at the recent launch of the programme that Kenya also has a similar programme.
The programme is a collaboration of Kyambogo University, ministry of Health and Fontys University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, who jointly framed the curriculum.
Rugyema said the project was initiated by the ministry of Health to improve the management of biomedical equipment in the health sector and cope with the new technological advancements in biomedical systems.
